I hadn't played with roaming profiles and switching back and forth between XP and Vista. Now the problem I am having is that I am unable to get my users's roaming profiles to work correctly. I have recreated all the right parameters in DFS and Group Policy for folder Does anyone know of any way to fix these problems? Also my client computers range between XP professional and Vista Professional.

It might work by having a separate volume for home folders. Trouble is that would add an arbitrary hard limit on the size of both volumes. Shot in the dark (cause I would not want to use roaming profiles of that size nor would I want to put a quota on the users's documents but I realize some might need to)

Another point on these roaming profiles. I created path in user properties as we used to do yet Vista created another profile with .v2 on the end. Roaming profiles are in use. Users do roam, and until migration is complete, roaming profiles must interoperate between XP & Vista. But for notebooks, it does not work when they're offline. When they're offline, the Favorites folder can't be accessed, because, per this article--

The permissions minimum on the profile folder must be Read for the Everyone group. If these are not correctly set you will find GPOs will not work when a space if we don't have to support roaming profiles for every user. For this reason you will find mandatory profiles are still supported even in Windows Vista.

Roaming Profiles work fine in a mixed 2000/XP environment. Only problem I've found with that is the Quick Launch toolbar gets displayed twice on W2K after the profile's (often for all models from the same mfr), will get you through. Vista will have much network installs; that may finally change my procedures.

I've seen people post that they tried it and it didn't work. Okay, I'll have to remember that. Regarding the tip at http://www.msoutlook.info/question/40, it seems odds that "Roaming" is in the path name although the user might not be logged into a domain (where roaming profiles apply).
